Course Objective
This course is designed for certifying professionals as a specialist in solid/liquid separation (or sometimes called liquid filtration). Separation of particles from a liquid can be accomplished by filtration (separation with a filter medium) or field separation (separation without a filter medium). This course will discuss different types of filters used for liquid filtration. The focus will be on the design, selection and testing especially from the industrial application perspective. Practical information and examples are used to allow the audience good understanding and appreciation of liquid filter design. The curriculum is designed for people who are new to the filtration industry either in technical, sales or business functions. It is also a very good refreshing course for those who have been involved in filtration for a while, especially in relating some fundamental principles to practical operations.
Course Outline
1. Introduction to Liquid Filter Design
2. Straining Filter Design
3. Cake Filter Design
4. Depth Filter Design
5. Membrane Filter Design
Panel Discussion: New Developments, Opportunities, and Trends
