Title: New EN 16798-3 and its Impact on Particle and Molecular Filtration Requirements

Abstract:

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is essential for healthy buildings, especially as air pollution remains the top environmental threat to human health. The World Health Organization's (WHO) updated Air Quality Guidelines (September 2021) have imposed stricter limits on pollutants like particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and for the first time, established safe limits for ozone.

The new EN ISO 10121-3:2022 standard simplifies the selection of molecular filters, making it easier to choose appropriate filters for both particles and gases. The innovative 2-in-1 combination filters offer a practical solution for maintaining IAQ. The EN 16798-3 standard further supports this by aligning filtration requirements with WHO guidelines and standards like EN ISO 16890 and EN ISO 10121-3.

By implementing energy-efficient filters with high filtration efficiency, building managers can improve IAQ, reduce energy consumption, lower operational costs, and minimize their CO2 footprint. Mr. Zimmer’s presentation will explore the significant impact of the new EN 16798-3 standard and offer strategies for meeting these evolving regulatory demands while maintaining optimal air quality.
