McMaster University and World Filtration Institute Sign Memorandum of Understanding


Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Clarksville, Tennessee, USA – November 29, 2024 – McMaster University, a world-renowned leader in research and education, and the World Filtration Institute (WFI), a global innovator in filtration and separation advancements, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to to advance collaboration in filtration and protective equipment innovation and strengthen collaboration in innovative filtration technologies and training.


The partnership is centered on advancing the NSERC CREATE Program in Medical Protective Equipment and Materials (MedPEM), an innovative training initiative spearheaded by McMaster University’s Centre of Excellence in Protective Equipment and Materials. Under this agreement, participating students will benefit from access to WFI’s technical seminars, engagement with leading industry experts, and participation in WFI’s annual conferences, gaining valuable insights into the latest developments, innovations, and trends driving efforts for a cleaner and healthier environment.

The MOU also facilitates periodic liaison meetings between McMaster and WFI representatives to evaluate ongoing projects, share updates, and identify new collaboration opportunities, further reinforcing their leadership in their respective fields.


This agreement highlights the increasing importance of partnerships between academic institutions and industry organizations in addressing global challenges and inspiring future industry leaders through innovative solutions.
